The Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP) is a polyvagal-informed, evidence-based listening program designed to help calm the nervous system, reduce anxiety and overwhelm, and increase your capacity for focus, rest, and connection. At Authentic Connections Counseling, we offer SSP as a structured program to support teens and adults struggling with anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and sensory sensitivities.

How it Works


Intake & Mapping: We’ll review your history, goals, and regulation patterns to create a pacing plan.

  1. Listening Phase: You’ll listen to specially filtered music through the SSP app in short, safe doses.

  2. Guided Check-Ins: Brief sessions to track progress, adjust pacing, and integrate regulation tools.

  3. Integration: Learn how to bring your gains into daily life (sleep, boundaries, focus, relationships).

Typical timeline: 10-15 weeks, flexible to your needs.

HSA/FSA cards accepted. SSP is considered a wellness intervention and is not eligible for insurance or superbills.

Self-Paced Access – $500

1-year SSP app access + one 20-minute orientation video + one 15-minute check-in.

- Best for independent, motivated clients who want minimal guidance.

90-min intake, 1-year access, 3 x 30-min check-ins, digital tools kit.

- Best balance of support and flexibility.

90-min intake, 1-year access, 5 x 45-min integration sessions, custom pacing plan, priority scheduling.

- Best for trauma survivors or high-need clients who want close support.

  • 30-minute integration session: $150

Frequently Asked Questions about the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)

  • Most clients complete the listening portion of SSP in 10-15 weeks. The pace is flexible and adjusted to your nervous system’s needs. Some people go faster, others take more time.

  • No — SSP is a structured therapeutic protocol designed to support your nervous system. It can complement talk therapy but is not a substitute for ongoing psychotherapy.

  • Some clients notice temporary shifts like increased emotions, fatigue, or sensitivity. This is part of your nervous system adjusting. We go slowly, titrate sessions, and check in regularly to ensure you stay safe and supported.

  • No. SSP is considered a wellness intervention and is not eligible for insurance or superbills. Payment is due at enrollment. Many clients use HSA/FSA cards to cover program costs.

  • SSP is currently facilitated by Cammie Terry, LPC, NCC, ADHD-CCSP, who is trained and certified in delivering SSP. As our practice grows, additional clinicians may be trained under Cammie’s supervision.

  • Yes, SSP is effective for chidlren, teens and adults. We tailor to developmental needs and family context.

    • Over-ear, wired headphones (or high-quality equivalent)

    • A quiet, comfortable space for listening

    • A willingness to go slowly and notice what your body experiences
